Housing

UC Washington Center

Students from all UC campuses live in the UC Washington Center in the heart of DC.  The Center houses up to 280 students per quarter and provides state of the art facilities like high speed internet connections at every bedside, with the convenience of weekly cleaning services in fully furnished apartments.  Grocery stores and a post office are within walking distance while a small fitness center, laundry facilities, and a student computer lab are located within the building. All UC Irvine participants are required to live in the UC Washington Center, which helps students to form a tight-knit community and meet students from other campuses.

Students live in two bedroom, one bathroom apartments, with two students sharing a bedroom, and a total of four students sharing an apartment. All bedrooms consist of an extra-long twin bed, drawers, desk, lamp, clock radio and one closet per person. The living room is furnished with a couch, coffee tables, lamps, and a TV with access to major networks and news channels. Local phone service is available. Living Room Bedroom

Worried about getting out of your housing at UCI to go to DC?

    • If you live on-campus in Arroyo Vista, Campus Village, Mesa Court or Middle Earth, UCI Housing will allow you to transfer your contract to the UC housing in DC and return to on-campus housing at UCI (if needed) at no additional charge.
    • If you live on-campus in Vista del Campo or Vista del Campo Norte, you may be allowed to sublet your room while you are in DC. Ask the VDC or VDC Norte housing office about this policy, and to be put on their sublet list.
    • If you live off-campus, the California Housing Board provides a forum for both UCDC and Education Abroad Program participants to share information about housing at UCI. This is an especially useful resource for students who need to find other students to sublet their room in their UCI apartment while in DC. The UCI Housing Office also has off-campus housing information and electronic listings where you can advertise your room for rent.
