Internships

A wide variety of internships are available in ANY field! Students are responsible for finding their own internship, typically after selection into the UCDC program. Staff at both UC Irvine and in Washington DC will assist students in this process, providing guidance and internship leads throughout the quarter prior to departure. Use the resources below to find the right internship for YOU!

In most cases, you will not apply for an internship until after you have been accepted to the UCDC program. However, there are a few organizations that have very early deadlines, usually due to a long security clearance process. If you are interested in any of the organizations below, apply early, even if prior to UCDC acceptance:

Applications due 6-9 months in advance. Requires a 6 month commitment. Consult with the UCDC office about how to extend your stay in DC.

Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI)

Fall = April 1
Winter/Spring = August 1

U.S. Department of Commerce

Varies. Check web for details.

U.S. Department of State

Fall = March 1
Winter/Spring = July 1

The White House

Fall = early-June
Winter/Spring = mid-September or early-October
Typically requires a semester commitment, although they have just started encouraging UC students to intern in winter quarter. Consult with the UCDC office about how to extend your stay to a semester in DC.
